Lu Tong Winding Creek Tea Party is narrated in English and Chinese; there are many English poems for students.  And there were some foreigners from the 2010 Training Course on Pollution-free Tea Production for Developing Countries to join.
Prepare concentrated tea liquid for later use.  When ready to use add hot water to the concentrated tea liquid and serve. This is a good idea when wanting to be ready to serve tea quickly.  The concentrated tea can be kept unrefrigerated for up to 4 hours.

For example: Using the tea leaf to hot water ratio of four grams of leaf to 100ml of water.  With proper the brewing parameters of the time and temperatureWhen ready to drink, add equal portions of tea liquid to equal portions hot water.

We will use this tea method for the Lutong Winding Creek Tea Party.

English is a international language and tea is the most popular drink in the world, and poetry is the perfect way for us to share our experiences and feeling of tea culture.  Back in 2008 when the Specialized English for Tea class began at the Tea Culture Department of the Tenfu Tea College, the students would write English poetry to express tea culture ideas. And in 2009 we wrote and arranged our poetry on the Internet and called it Lu Tong's Wall .  And now as of 2010 we will further our expression of Tea Culture and Poetry by having the Lu Tong Winding Creek Tea Party every year.  Poetry is a way to express our ideas and feeling of tea and a tea party is a wonderful way to enjoy and share tea culture.

Ladies and gentlemen, here we will host the first Lu Tong Winding Creek Tea Party atscheduled具体时间点待定)in our Tenfu Tea Museum, we hope all our tea friends can enjoy today’s tea party.  We also would like to thank the Tenfu Tea Museum for helping us to host this event and supplying tea and tea foods. Special thanks to Teacher Chafeng and Lingzhi for organizing the tea brewing for the tea party.  Last year autumn of 2009, Teacher Chafeng organized a tea party at the Tenfu Tea Museum. And welcome our foreigners from the 2010Training Course on Pollution-free Tea Production for Developing Countries to join us, let’s welcome.

The First Lu Tong Winding Creek Tea Party was organized by Teacher Steven and Teacher Zhang in 2010, and holding this Winding Creek Tea Ceremony is to promote Chinese tea culture and to utilize the skills obtained by the Specialized English for Tea. Today, students of the Tea Culture Department in Tenfu Tea College gather at the winding stream beside the Orchid Pavilion and will enjoy tea and tea foods; then share English poems about tea and tea culture with each other.

Having a Winding Creek Tea Ceremony was a good way for the literati to communicate Chinese tea culture with each other and stimulate creative inspiration that allowed them to get lost in the open natural world; and put their mood into a relaxed free time. The name has a funny story, our Teacher Steven thought that it was Lu Tong’s Wall but it actually should have been called Su Dongpo.

The “Winding Creek Tea Party” is thought to be the earliest tea ceremony. It is inherited from the ancient “winding creek and floating cups” of China, and transformed. The Orchid Pavilion is located at the foot of Lanzhu Mountain, southwest of Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. Jin Dynasty’s famous calligrapher ,Wang Xizhi had wrote his Prologue to the Orchid Pavilion Poems there. Article content describes people at that time in streams, drinking wine held song poetry scenes. He later became the ink from the people study the bluebook. Long long ago, some people wanted to hold a wine party, but they weren’t very clear when drunk. So they appointed to drink tea instead of wine.  The modern Winding Creek Tea Party is not only the ancient people’s aesthetic mood, but also the modern people’s health preserving.

We have chosen the Orchid Pavilion close to Tang Mountain in the tea museum.  There is a winding creek and beautiful environment.  It’s really a good place to enjoy a tea party.

The seats are arranged by drawing lots.  The one that draws the first should organize their group to upper creek reaches near the brewing tea area.  And the guests can sit down.

Today we carry our concentrated tea, and add hot water to the concentrated tea liquid to serve. When brewer’s group finishes brewing, they should place the tea to the little tea tray boats.  And let them go downstream to the guests. The last boat which will have a sign flag means their work is over, and next group will prepare to go on.

Then the guests in lower creek reaches will help theirselves to have some tea or some snacks. Does it fittingly please; we need to be considerate of the next friend’s benefit. If the tea taste very good, we will share more to others. And be considerate to everyone is a virtue in our tea ceremony.

In this busy and noisy society, we hope everyone feels happy to have this free time. Experience the ancients’ open-mind of “One cup one poem, make you smile and touch”.

In the tea party, we will have some programs for enjoying and savoring tea. This time, our tea friends will share their English poems to us.  During this autumn breeze and cool afternoon, we might have some tea, read the poems, or sing a song if you cheer.  Enjoy the style of ancient times throughout and leave yourself in nature.

(二)About the Lu Tong and his tea poems关于卢仝及他的茶诗
Lu Tong (795 -835AD), his name is also Yuchuanzi, from Jiyuan Henan, Chinese mid-Tang Dynasty poet, four literati after the generation Lu Zhaolin. Most of his poetry was devoted to tea.

Lu Tong when young was smart, before 20 years old went into inclusion at Shaoshi Mountain, Songshan, he refused to be an official.  He was in Han Yu's good graces later, and moved to Luoyang.  In November 20, 835AD, eve of Ganlu Incident, Lu Tong was a guest in the home of Wang Ya who was a prime minister.  He was killed with Wang Ya when the incident broken out on November 21st.  “Lu Tong had no hair, and died due to a nail in the back of the head”.  The “Jiyuan County Annals” that Xiao Yingzhi with friends written in Qianlong period records:  There is a “Tomb of Lu Tong” in Wushantou and 12 miles away from the northwest county.  In the poem “Crying for Lu Tong”, his good friends Jia Dao said:  “He wore white clothes once in forty years of his life.”.

The poem of Lu Tong is surprising, unusual, risky and strange, people call “Lu Tong’s Style”.  His “Yuchuanzi’s Collection of Poetry” is handed down to the world. He likes tea, and his “Thanks Meng Jianyi for Sending the New Tea Handwriting” is called “Tea Song of Yuchuan”, and is as famous as the “Tea Classic” of Lu Yu. Below is a famous tea poem by Lu Tong.

Lu Tong's Seven Bowls of Tea
The first bowl moistens my lips and throat;
The second bowl breaks my loneliness;
The third bowl searches my barren entrails but to find
Therein some five thousand scrolls;
The fourth bowl raises a slight perspiration
And all life's inequities pass out through my pores;
The fifth bowl purifies my flesh and bones;
The sixth bowl calls me to the immortals.
The seventh bowl could not be drunk, only the breath of the cool wind raises in my sleeves.
Where is Penglai Island, Yuchuanzi wishes to ride on this sweet breeze and go back.
